Shavano Park Holiday Crime Activity
Shavano Park isn’t the only city that will see an increase in crime with the holidays rapidly approaching. Even though we have an active police force working for us, there are others whose thoughts are occupied with free packages left on your front door step.
Statistics show that crime usually increases during and after the holiday season and the reason is very simple. Even though your daily routine doesn’t see much change the wrong kind of people are out and about looking for an easy grab. Below please find some tips to keep your property safe during the holiday season.
If you are traveling:
- Put an automatic timer on your lights
- Ask a neighbor to check up on your home
- Temporarily put a hold on your mail and newspaper delivery
- Sign up for email with the local police department to stay in touch if you may be away during the holidays
- You can call the Shavano Park Police Department to go and physically check on your property while you are away
If you are out of the house:
- Leave the lights on or your TV so it looks as if someone is home
- Obvious, but lock your doors and windows
- Hide your gifts so they can’t be seen through the windows
- Make sure you are home to accept a package or request a signature
